The NSS cell of KLE University was established in April 2006 has now completed 10 year existence the NSS unit of college of Ayurveda Shahapur joined KLE University in April 2009 which was previously under RGUHS Bangalore.
Six Special annual camps has been organised from 19/04/2010 till date with an objective to create awareness about importance of clean water, water borne diseases, tree sapling plantation (Vanamahotsava), cleanliness, and health awareness and free health check up for the benefit of the public.
Uniqueness of College of Ayurveda NSS unit are 1200 plant sapling plantation every year, On occasion of staff birthday celebration by planting a sapling, Satellite blood donation camp every month on second Saturday, awareness about locally available medicinal plant identification and their proper utility in specific diseases, Awareness about Voluntary Blood Donation, Body Donation, Eye Donation, Organ donation.
The NSS unit of KLEU’s Shri B M K Ayurveda actively participated in awareness and motivation for Eye and Body donation in general public the outcome of this is more than 242 people pledged to donate their body out of which 13 bodies are already received for medical study and research purpose. Through eye donation more than 10 eye donors have gifted the eye sight to the blind and lightened their life.
The HIV AIDS awareness program tobacco free programmes nutrition important of healthy mother and safe motherhood impacted the women and motivated their husbands to stop consuming the tobacco, school campus was cleaned tree saplings were planted in the school campus the voluntary blood donation and donating same to the needy to the people of the village brought cheers.
Within six years plant saplings have grown taller and more than 3000 people have been benefited by the free health check up organised by the NSS Unit College of Ayurveda
One of the assets of KLEU’s Shri B M K Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya was A Marathon run, PROTSAHA 2014 conducted on 14th Dec. 2014 on the eve of WORLD DISABLITY DAY in the Aid of physically challenged people Disability Day, or the International Day of People with Disability, is a day that has been promoted by the United Nations since 1992. The aim of Disability Day is to encourage a better understanding of people affected by a disability, together with helping to make people more aware of the rights, dignity and welfare of disabled people, as well as raise awareness about the benefits of integrating disabled persons into every aspect of life, from economic, to political, to social and cultural. Disability Day is not concerned exclusively with either mental or physical disabilities, but rather encompasses all known disabilities, from Autism to Down Syndrome to Multiple Sclerosis.
With more than 2000 people participated voluntarily from all walks of life and made the event grand success the event was flagged off by Dr PrabhakarKore the chancellor of KLE University who himself took part in the run. The main objective was to raise funds to help the physically challenged people through voluntary donation of Rs 3,16,569/- was collected and made fixed deposit the interest amount is used for adaption of Prajwal School children’s and health care, free ambulance service, free medication and health checkup.
It is a matter of great pride for KLE University that the unit was declared the University Level Best Nss Unit And Programme Officer For The Year 2014-2015 By Kle University Belagavi.was conferred to unit.
